Ruins, espresso, and highly specific opinions about cacio e pepe. Everything I’ve learned in the Eternal City, solo-style.

Why Rome?

Rome is chaotic, unforgettable, and packed with pinch-me moments. Whether you're staring up at the Pantheon or chasing the best pasta down a side street, it hits you in the heart (and the feet).

I’ve visited solo and with friends, and I keep going back. This page pulls together all my Rome posts to help you plan with less stress and more sparkle.

  • Hotel Tour: Albergo del Senato – Right Next to the Pantheon
Classic Roman charm and unbeatable views. I practically rolled out of bed into the Piazza.
  • Hotel Tour: Hotel Ariston – Convenient Stay Near Termini Station
Modern, efficient, and super close to trains. Great for first-timers and early morning departures.
  • Apartment Tour: Raffaello Inn VRBO – A Charming Stay in the Heart of Rome
A cozy vacation rental with room to spread out, cook a snack, and pretend you're a local or a fairy printhess.

✈️ Rome Travel Tips for Women Over 50

  • Neighborhood Notes
Stay somewhere central but not chaotic. I love Trastevere, Monti, and Trevi for walkability and character.
  • Safety & Comfort
I’ve always felt safe, but Rome does require some situational awareness. Wear the crossbody, trust your gut, and try not to look too amazed when a Vespa zooms past.
  • Packing for Rome
Comfortable shoes that still feel stylish. Breathable fabrics. Sunglasses for both fashion and self-defense against the Roman sun.

💡 Rome Travel FAQ

Is Rome safe for solo female travelers?
Yes, just stay alert, blend in a bit, and don’t flash your phone or bag in crowded areas.

Should I take a tour?
Absolutely. I mix self-guided exploring with a small-group walking tour or food tour every time. It’s a great way to learn and meet people.

How many days should I stay?
Three full days minimum. More if you like museums, slow mornings, or pretending you live there.
